Enemy
03:49
|
|||
Waking up to that feeling that we lost another one today.
I hadn't heard from them for a while but that doesn't mean a fucking thing.
He was always there for me,
Just a couple of buttons away.
I was lucky to hear that voice standing a dozen feet away.
Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best,
I want to make my life count.
Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best,
I want to make my life count.
All this time I lose to things that don't mean anything.
I shout and scream but don't listen.
My own worst enemy.
Strangers filled with such meaning to a kid living so far away.
Writing songs that I understood,
That spoke to me on cloudy days.
I see my heroes are passing and it makes me feel so very strange.
I want to honour their memory and play some songs that won't fade away.
Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best,
I want to make my life count.
Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best,
I want to make my life count.
All this time I lose to things that don't mean anything.
I shout and scream but don't listen.
My own worst enemy.

Memories Fade
02:33
|
|||
I know I used to be lost and mess up almost everything.
Take a moment to relax and let everything sink in.
So very long ago
I rarely think about it anymore.
It's just another life
Lived by someone else
Somewhere else.
I hope you're happy with the choices you made.
Ultimately, the world remained the same
I'm just more cynical
And guarded
And wary of the pain.
Life worked out better anyway
And memories fade.
I never ask about you but sometimes I hear your name.
An old story told by a friend I haven't seen in time.
I know how it goes
I still remember all the adventures.
It's just another life
Lived by someone else
Somewhere else.
I hope you're happy with the choices you made.
Ultimately, the world remained the same
I'm just more cynical
And guarded
And wary of the pain.
Life worked out better anyway
And memories fade.

New Year's Day
03:14
|
|||
We got on a plane and arrived to a hut.
We laughed as we ran to the only bus.
It was cold.
Gothenburg winter,
Wrapping up warm.
Ruined your boots and soaked through in the snow.
I didn't have the words to say how amazing it was that day.
We sat out in the snow on New Year's Day.
Mingeling photo,
A walk to The Crown.
Kids sledding down to their parents.
Look out to the city
Snow in the air.
I'll never forget our first trip.
I didn't have the words to say how amazing it was that day.
We sat out in the snow on New Year's Day.
We could have stayed at home.
We would have still had fun
But we wouldn't have the memories.
I knew back then that I'd always love you in that courtyard by the tree.
I knew back then that I'd always love you and you...
You'd love me.
I didn't have the words to say how amazing it was that day.
We sat out in the snow on New Year's Day.

U-Turn
02:31
|
|||
Changing your mind is like riding a bike
You can do it whenever
However you like.
It's important that you know that you have a choice
Open your mind and speak loud with your voice.
Just a drop in the ocean but oceans are vast
You can be a pioneer
It's fine if you're last.
No need to fight
Can we just talk it out?
Calm, always calm
As there's no need to shout.
I say these words but my voice is never heard.
I know that we can talk this through and make a change.
Instead of plodding along let's make a u-turn right here
Stop existing and live.
There's a time and a place and it's called "here and now"
Don't spend everyday wondering how
Achieving your goals can only be done
If you put in the time, the work and have fun.
Please take your time and don't waste what you have
It's gone before you know that you have none left.
Settle the conflict, walk from the war.
Keep your mind open
Open to more.
I say these words but my voice is never heard.
I know that we can talk this through and make a change.
Instead of plodding along let's make a u-turn right here
Stop existing and live.
I know the revolution is inside of you.
I say these words but my voice is never heard.
I know that we can talk this through and make a change.
Instead of plodding along let's make a u-turn right here
Stop existing and live.

Friday Night
03:23
|
|||
Take a moment, let it sink in
What happened at the weekend.
People out living their lives,
People out on a Friday night.
What a madness, what a nightmare.
Too many moments cut short.
They were there for a good time
But they were there for a killing.
What kind of twisted mind thinks like that?
Goodbye to the friends that we have lost.
The friends we never had
But brothers / sisters of the world.
Spare a thought and be thankful we're alive.
Remember what we lost on that Friday night.
Another day another terror.
The fear of people without conscience.
They hate the freedom of our freedom,
Ending life because they believe they're right.
We'll never get away from violence -
That's just the world we live in.
The only way that we can fight this
Is to carry on existing
And live our lives and love our families.
Goodbye to the friends that we have lost.
The friends we never had
But brothers / sisters of the world.
Spare a thought and be thankful we're alive.
Remember what we lost on that Friday night.
The only thing that matters is happiness and love.
Surround yourself with people that make you smile and laugh.
I cannot stress enough to you that this is true...
Be kind, have and smile.
Goodbye to the friends that we have lost.
The friends we never had
But brothers / sisters of the world.
Spare a thought and be thankful we're alive.
Remember what we lost on that Friday night.

Dirty White Brighton, UK
The sort of music that comes about when the rhythm section of a noise rock band meets a singer that loves Taylor Swift as much as he loves Kim Deal. Weirdly ends up sounding like something Bob Mould might put out. We can live with that.
